The Village Vettes TOYS-FOR-TOTSCommittee (Jim LOGUIDICE, Mike WHITE, Roger STOKES, and Charlie TAGMAN) has begun the initial planning for our annual “TOYS-FOR-TOTS campaign".  We'll launch our 2018 initiative at the General Membership Meeting on Thursday, 10/11/18, followed by this “TOYS-FOR-TOTS Kick-Off Cruise-In/Car Show” at the bucolic setting of the Grand Oaks Resort & Museum on Friday, 10/26. These effort will again culminate with our annual Toys-For-Tots Caravan to the Marine Corps warehouse location in early December.

Price of admission for this "Cruise-In/Car Show,” is an unwrapped toy or a cash/check donation.  All proceeds will benefit the Colonel Phillip C. Delong Detachment TOYS-FOR-TOTS Campaign.  There will be food, games, prizes, 50-50 raffle, and music.  The invitation listing has been broaden with the vision of an event with 200 vehicles of various makes/models.  Bring your folding chairs.  No coolers or alcohol allowed on premise. It is a rain or shine event.

Membership is encouraged to join in this worthwhile charity event in soliciting toys and donations (i.e., boxes placed at resident, neighborhood solicitation, driveway parties, etc). Your efforts to obtain the needed donations are only limited by your imagination.

Importantly, the committee will be soliciting assistance from our membership. We'll need many members for our club to host this event effectively, especially directing participants to the TOYS-FOR-TOTS area, gathering and sorting contributions and toys, directing cars to the show area and getting the cars parked quickly and efficiently. During the event we'll also have games and raffles that will be conducted by our members.

The overall effort of the membership in the past has been most successful.  Since the initial 2012 campaign through last year’s 2017 campaign, the club has provided the Marine Corps Toys-For-Tots campaign $45,088.50 in cash donation and 7,438 collected toys.

This campaign will culminate in December with our annual caravan from George Nahas Chevrolet in Wildwood to the Toys for Tots warehouse under the guidance of the Colonel Philip C. Delong Detachment #1247 of the Marine Corps League. There will be more information to come. Let's have a great and successful event!
