GET READY FOLKS. October 10, 11, & 12 is THIS YEAR'S COLOR RUN. We'll depart The Villages on October 10, and you will return on the 12th. We all enjoyed our previous treks to: Apalachicola, Fernandina, Tarpon Lodge @ Pine Island, St. Simons Island, and the Putnam Inn in Cross Coty, FL.
Here are some of the particulars on this year's adventure:
The destination is an restored historic venue, ADA approved with elevator, about 6 hours driving time from THE VILLAGES. Our destination has 30 newly refinished rooms, all with the expected amenities. We have scheduled an evening dinner in the hotel's dining room. We realize that when you arrive, after surviving the dusty trail, you'll need to clear the dust from your throat, so we have lined up a magnificent watering hole for your enjoyment.
As you investigate the venue and admire the spacious lobby, the views of the near by city park, you will try to figure out why this three floor hotel does not have a second floor. Go figure!
The route to the destination follows an old Indian trail through the swamps, over mountains, and along the “Old Desert Trail”. Roger Stokes and Cindy Jaudon have not released any clues or details yet, other than the venue is in Alabama, Georgia, or Florida. You WILL will need to pack a lunch. Don and Linda Chaney are hard at work on the clue package you'll have to follow to get there. They recommend that you “buckle up” for this drive along the Desert trail. Don and Linda have retained Chief Long Neck of the Seminole Tribe for clues.
Dinner will be in the main dining room. It is a buffet prepared in the hotel’s kitchen. The dinner will start with a Caesar Salad with garlic croutons and Romano cheese, tender boneless chicken breast with black pepper cream sauce, slowly cooked and seared beef brisket, roaster parsley red potatoes, fresh bean medley and chocolate cake fore dessert. All other meals and restaurants and activities are for you to choose.
