FLAG PLACEMENT

TO ALL VILLAGE VETTES MEMBERS

attending the Flags for Florida's Fallen on Sunday, May 25th.

We will travel with a police escort as a club unit in conjunction with the Nomads Motorcycle Club and The Convertible Club and enter the cemetery together. We will then split off and go to our assigned sections. Our assigned sections are 429-445.

We will line up at COLONY COTTAGE RECREATION CENTER, 510 Colony Blvd, 32162. ARRIVE @ 6:45AM and depart at 7:15 AM SHARP!

CARAVAN TO THE NATIONAL CEMETERY:
1. We will have a POLICE ESCORT FROM COLONY TO THE NATIONAL CEMETERY. The Line-Up will be:
A. Bikers
B. Corvettes
C. Convertible Club

ORDERS AT THE CEMETERY:
Flag placement will begin immediately after taps are played at 9:00 AM. When parking at our assigned section(s) 429-445 try to avoid parking on the grass as there is possibility of damaging the cemetery irrigation system.
Sonny's Barbecue at 2689 County Road 48 (just outside Bushnell Cemetery) has agreed to open for a late breakfast / early lunch for our group. Those who would like can assemble there after the flag placement.

What/Where/How:
(1) Large screw driver with a tape "marker" 4" from the tip
(2) A 12" ruler or stick.
(3) Your own bottled drinking water

(4) Flags only go on the front of a headstone or marker; none on the back
(5) Place the flag 12 inches from the CENTER of gravestone/marker, and 4 inches deep (mark your screwdriver with a piece of tape 4" from the end as a guide.
(6) What to say when placing the flag: Read the veteran’s name aloud, thank them for their service/sacrifice.

We have a limited number of specially made "flag insertion tools" that eliminate bending and measuring.

On Saturday, May 31st we will return to the cemetery to remove the flags.

Please let us know if you are available by registering for removal duty on our club calendar.

Our Club, THE VILLAGE VETTES, will be placing flags at the FLORIDA NATIONAL CEMETERY located in Bushnell, FL. It's a great opportunity for vets, and those that just want to pay homage to our fallen vets who fought for the freedoms we now enjoy.
