This event is a "fly-in" at Love Field in Weirsdale. Much like a "Cruise-In" but with vintage airplanes. Few in The Villages have ever heard of LOVE FIELD but it is, an honest-to-god "AVIATION COMMUNITY" right here in our backyard. This is a don't miss afternoon. Planes start arriving @ 9AM and it gets really busy by 10AM. There will be pulled pork for lunch & deserts galore served from 11:30-1:30(Pay $15 & receive a "meal ticket" at the table/booth). BE SURE TO BRING A CHAIR, find a place under one of the many huge shade trees, sit back, and watch, photograph, and video these interesting vintage planes fly in. This is John's personal hanger so please be respectful of it. He'll be giving us a "personal tour" of his "MAN CAVE-HANGER". You don't want to miss the "Pilot's Lounge" and see the F-4 Phantom Pilot's suit the wore in Vietnam during his over 300 missions. Walk around and experience many different types of planes, some older than we are and some from different countries. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR CAMERA, sun protection (be it lotion &/or an an umbrella).
This article from the local paper, 10-21-21 highlights our host for this cruise, John Carlisle. To put it mildly, John has led a very interesting life and will share his many tales of flying, driving race cars, and more. The is a don't miss cruise.
A great opportunity to meet and talk to the pilots, see their unique planes and watch them land and take off right in front of you.
